Welcome to Hippo Class we are a Foundation Stage Two Class. This term we will be  learning all about food through our topic "Food Glorious Food" .We will be learning about our food, what is a healthy diet and where our different foods come from. We will be having a visit from a chocolate making  company where the children will have the opportunity to make their own Lollies from chocolate! In our Literacy we will focus on the books ‘Superkid’, ‘Supertato’ and ‘Veggies Assemble’, Run Veggies Run’ and ‘Ketchup on your Cornflakes’ . Our role play area is a home corner where children can pretend to make and cook food and invite our friends for tea. Our Jigsaw Theme (PSE/PSHE curriculum) is "Being Me in My World "  Where we will focus on areas that are important to them and discuss their life and family around them.  We also focus on what makes us healthy and why. We always think about our British Values and our focus this half term will be on "Democracy " where the children will focus on voting to make important changes in their lives. We vote on such things as books we would like to read at the end of the day.  There is a book swap morning, which in Hippo class is on a Thursday morning. You are welcome to come and change your child's book and stay to read for a short time. PE will be on a  Wednesday Morning. PE kits will be needed for this. It is important to name all clothing in PE kits. This way we can make sure all items are returned to the correct person

We have lots of exciting visits planned in our local area.  We will be visiting the local allotments  on Friday 4th October.

Homework will be based  on reading and sound recognition. The work will be sent home on a Friday and will be based on sounds the children will be learning in class.  When reading the children will gain stickers and certificates when they have achieved 25 reads at home and every 25 steps thereafter. You can monitor their progress on the poster found in the class window.
