Important Information for Hippo Class.
Welcome to Hippo Class we are a mixed Year 1 and 2 class. We are the Happy Helpful Hippos and we are encouraged to do the best we can in all areas. Our Learning this half term will be based around the topic 'Over and under the Ocean' We will also be focusing on the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and celebrate this remarkable achievement. See below for details on what we are learning in our different curriculum areas . Children will have their reading books changed once a week. The children's progress is shown on a chart displayed in the window of the classroom. The children receive a sticker in their reading diaries for each 25 reads they do. They also receive other treats for passing specific milestones along the way! PE will be on a Tuesday afternoon and on a Wednesday. PE kits will be needed for this and currently the children need to come to school in their PE kits. All earrings will need to be covered by plasters/tape on these days for health and safety. Please provide this in class for your child.
Can all items of clothing be named that way we can return it to you as soon as possible. In the wintertime can ALL items be named this includes gloves, hats and scarfs as these are usually the items that go walkabout!
During the week the children have continious provision which are activities the children can access independently often based on topic ideas and cover the whole of the curriculum. One activity this half term is a travel agency.
Homework is set on a Friday to be returned or marked as done online on a Wednesday. It is usually based on activities such as Education City. We also add work on SEESAW such as maths activities and Topic homework. It is really important this is done by the children as it usually consolidates skills, activities or ideas that the children have already covered in class. Thank you for your help in this area.
