Forest Schools is an approach to outdoor environmental learning that boosts wellbeing, engagement and enjoyment. It is a child-centered, holistic learning process that allows children to follow their interests and take measured risks in their learning.
At JTR we decided to embark upon the Forest Schools approach because we value every child as an individual, understanding that in order to be the very best they can be children need the chance to explore, play, take measured risks and follow their interests. By doing these things children we know children will gain confidence in learning, be immersed in learning and value learning. Together with this, we know children will develop resilience, kindness, problem solving, compassion and team work through regular Forest Schools sessions.
We started our Forest Schools journey in January 2022. Mrs Booth completed her Forest Schools training and the staff and children were so excited to develop the site and get started.
Below are photos of the site as it was developed and each class experiencing the fun, excitement and learning in different Forest Schools sessions.
