Paralympic Week 2024
We all had a fantastic week participating in various paralympic activities. We started off practising a variety of wheelchair skills and once we were comfortable with those we had a go at Wheelchair Tennis, Wheelchair Archery and Wheelchair Basketball. We learnt lots of new skills and had so much fun working together with our friends!
Allotment visits 2024
The children in Tigers, Parrots, Koalas, Orangutans and Lemurs have all visited the local allotments in the Autumn term. Each
class spent a morning weeding vegetable beds, harvesting the produce that included apples and tomatoes and taking a walk
looking at the animals and other produce growing around the allotments. All classes enjoyed seeing and saying hello to Coco
the horse, who belongs to a child in Lemur class. We all look forward to visiting the allotment again in the Spring term!
Forest School sessions 2024
All the children in school access Forest School sessions every half term. So far this year some of the children have chosen to
participate in focused tasks that included creating faces showing how they were feeling using natural resources (resources
provided and resources they had to find in the Forest School area), and creating 2 different knots in a Bushcraft focused
session. The children also have access to lots of other areas and resources within the Forest School area including the rope
swing, mud kitchen, dig area, teepees and blackboards . This allows for child initiated learning and opportunities to work
individually or collaboratively with a partner or as part of a team. Each session is finished with singing using the jingle stickers
in the log circle.
Children in Need 2024 and a few pictures from Parrots class writing their kindness messages.
The children at John T Rice enjoyed coming to school in non-uniform and raising funds for Children in Need 2024. They joined dancer Darcey Bussell online to take part in a dance fitness class, and also filled our Pudsey Bear template with coins.
Diwali Dancing
All the classes in school took part in some Indian dancing to celebrate Diwali.
History-Toys and Games in the past
As part of their History learning, the children in Key Stage 1 visited Mansfield Museum to find about "Toys and Games in the past". They got to explore the different artefacts from the past and explore the museum.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
